These two first visited and camped at THIS resort in 2002 and loved Canim Lake! They returned year-after-year for more than 15 years with their children and eventually their grandchildren. Presently living in the Lower Mainland they are both retired and love the outdoors and traveling.

Leanne and Bear have been coming to the Cariboo together for 20 years and made the move up here full time in 2019. Since then they have put in extensive upgrades and built the resort into a special experience in the Cariboo. Together Leanne and Bear oversee resort happenings and are very involved. They have enjoyed getting to know all the guests and look forward to expanding the business and operations in the future. South Point Resort is their home and Canim Lake is a very special place for them both.

Roxy has spent her entire life on Canim Lake and loves the water, boating and humans. She will make sure other dogs are on-leash as she can not handle it any other way. She also ensures all squirrels are managed appropriately throughout the grounds.

For those of you that knew him, you know he was an incredibly special cattle dog to us. He was the resort greeter who absolutely loved Canim Lake and everything about the Cariboo. In honour of his memory, we are creating a South Point Resort Fundraiser to raise money for the SPCA in the Cariboo region of BC. We are calling it Ryker's Round-Up - in an effort to gather the troops and help raise money for other animals looking for their forever home or needing proper medical treatments.
The main efforts will be in July each year, but it will be open year-round.
Thanks for your support! We miss you Ryker.
- Leanne & Bear Sallenback (and his little sister, Roxy).
In 2018, Leanne and Bear sold their house, quit their jobs, and headed north to British Columbia’s Cariboo region to pursue a life running a rustic resort. They traded in big salaries and stability for an adventure-filled life full of freedom and hard work. They say the first five years in business are the toughest, and that couldn’t be more true. A pandemic, wildfires, floods, unexpected renovations, and countless challenges tested their resolve.
But through it all, they poured their blood, sweat, and tears into their venture—finding plenty of laughs along the way. It’s their story of taking a leap into the unknown and redefining success on their own terms.
From Corporate to Cariboo is a lesson in taking risks, dreaming big, trusting your intuition, and living a life that feels authentic to you.
